Full Name | Margaret Dixon McDougall |
---|---|
Notes | In a number of sources, Margaret MacDougall is mistakenly identified as "Paul Peppergrass," author of The Lady of the Beacon of the Araheera (1857); however, this was the pseudonym of a Catholic priest, John Boyce (1810-1864). A number of other unverified titles have also been attributed to Margaret Dixon MacDougall: Life in Glenshie: Being the Recollections of Elizabeth Ray, School-teacher (1878), My Young Master, Casting a Lot: Revenge in Theory and Practice, and In Search of the Supernatural. Margaret Dixon McDougall was the aunt of author Mary Edith Carey Tyrrell. For a more detailed biography and bibliography, see her entry in the Canada's Early Women Writers project. |
